You’re probably familiar with using Siri on your iPhone to text, check the weather, and listen to music. But did you know that Siri is now available on Mac computers? Today we tell you how to use Siri on Mac – activate Siri on Mac to search Web and play music.
To use Siri on your Mac, you can click the Siri icon in the top right corner or hold down the Command key and Spacebar.
Siri can find documents and photos on your Mac, search the web, play music and more.
If Siri is not supported on your Mac, you can enable it from the System Preferences menu.
The Mac version of Siri can help you find specific files on your computer, search the web, find the nearest coffee shop, and more – it can do anything the iPhone version can.
Note that you will need to be running MacOS Sierra or newer.
How to activate Siri on Mac
Click on the Apple icon on the top left of your screen and select “System Preferences“.
Click “Siri“.
Under the Siri icon, check the “Enable Ask Siri” box.
At the bottom of the page, check “Show Siri in the menu bar“.
On the right side of this page, you can select Siri’s language and voice, and change the keyboard shortcuts used.
By default, you’ll want to hold Command + Space.
If you don’t want Siri to speak, set “Voice Response” to “off“.
How to use Siri on Mac
- Click the Siri icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen, or press and hold the keyboard shortcut of your choice (Command + Space by default).
If you have a MacBook with a Touch Bar, you can also select the Siri icon there.
When Siri appears, all other sounds on your computer will be muted.
You will see a pop-up saying “what can I help you with?“
2. Ask your question, or say what you need.
3. To ask another question, click the glowing Siri icon at the bottom of the window.
4. When you do, you can either press the X icon at the top left of the window or Siri.
It will disappear after a while.
