If you have an Apple Watch running WatchOS 7.4 or later and an iPhone with iOS 14.5 or later, you can still skip entering a passcode — Apple Watch can unlock your phone for you right away.

You need to make sure that your watch has WiFi, Bluetooth, passwords and wrist detection all set up.

When you turn on Unlock on Apple Watch and iPhone, it unlocks automatically when you raise your hand or tap the screen.

Before you enable the automatic unlock feature on Apple Watch, you need to make sure that your Apple Watch is properly supported. It should be properly configured and paired with your iPhone. So do this:

Tap the digital crown to see a list of watch apps and tap the Settings app.

Tap Wi-Fi and make sure it’s on, then click the button on the right.

Tap the back arrow at the top left, then tap Bluetooth.

Make sure Bluetooth is turned on, by clicking the button on the right.

Click the back arrow.

If you haven’t set a passcode on your watch, tap Passcode, tap Enable passcode, and then enter the passcode twice to set it.

While in the passcode section, make sure that detection is enabled by sliding the switch to the right.

Now is the time to enable Unlock on Apple Watch.

8. On your iPhone, launch the Settings app.

9. Tap the ID & passcode page, and enter your phone’s passcode when prompted.

10. In the Unlock the Apple Watch section, enable the feature by swiping the button next to your watch on the right.

Now your phone should unlock automatically when you pick up the phone or tap the screen, even if your face can’t be recognized.

Note that it may take several seconds for this feature to activate, but your watch will vibrate to let you know that it has unlocked the phone.
