Snapchat’s ghost mode will hide your location on the map, so contacts won’t be able to see where you are.


You can also turn off location tracking from your iPhone or Android device settings, where you can cancel the license.

To turn off location tracking on Snapchat, you need to turn on “mood”.

In the location settings of the Snapchat app, you can set the mood so that no one can see where you are. This will prevent you from appearing on the Snapchat map, hiding your location from your friends and followers.

Additionally, you can disable these apps completely by going to your iPhone or Android settings. There you can turn off the location service for Snapchat, which will remove all app settings.

How to turn off location on snapchat

This is how to turn off tracking status on Snapchat for iPhone and Android devices.

  1. Open the Snapchat application on your iPhone or Android device and access your profile icon on the top left

2. Tap the settings gear icon in the upper right corner.

3. Scroll to the ‘Who Can…‘ section and click ‘See my location‘. The default setting is that only your friends see your status.

4. On your settings page, you’ll see an option to change the default “My friends” to “My friends, except…” or “only these friends…” Tap these options to to choose your Snapchat contact name list.

5. To turn on private mode so that no one can see your status, tap the switch at the top of the screen.

A pop-up window will appear allowing you to select a time. You can do it temporarily, but if you want to do it forever, select “Until Turned Off“.

6. Return to the main Snapchat page, where your camera is and where you can take photos or videos.

Scroll down to open the map.

Your location will be marked with a blue and white Snapchat ghost if you are currently private. This will let you know that you have successfully disabled location tracking.

You can click the gear icon in the upper right corner to return directly to the settings page. (Snapchat can even notify you with a pop-up saying “Share your status with some friends!“)

You can also skip all this by canceling permission from Snapchat.
