how to take windows screenshot

You can save a copy of the receipt as a digital file. Or you must display something strange on your screen that makes you think that your computer supports technical support. Or you want to capture participants in a conference call on the fly. Having a screenshot is a useful tool, but it’s not always the way to make it stand out. While there are applications you can use to take a screenshot of your computer, Microsoft Windows also has built-in options. This article is about how to take windows screenshot.

how to take windows screenshot using two different ways

1. Using the print button

It works on any version of Windows.

  • The Print button at the top right of your keyboard will capture anything on your screen and save it to the clipboard. (It may be called PrtScr, PrtSc, or another template.)
  • Depending on your computer, you may click the Print button;
  • or press the Alt and Print keys at the same time; or press and hold the Fn and Print Screen buttons at the same time (both Fn and Alt are on the bottom left of your keyboard), to capture the screen.
  • From here you can paste screenshots into a document. (Press Ctrl and V keys at the same time to paste).
  • To save the image, simply paste it into an image application (Paint, for example) and save it in its own file.
  • Or you can paste the image directly into an email, Slack message, or Word document.

In Windows 8 and 10, you can also take a screenshot by holding down the Windows key and the Print button at the same time, and the screenshot will be automatically saved to a file for screenshots in the photo library.

2. Using the Snipping Tool

In Windows Vista and later (Windows 7, 8, and 10), you can use the in-OS snipping tool.

In addition to taking full-screen photos of each application window, this tool allows you to take a rectangular or free-form image of the screen area you want to record.

The image is then copied to the capture tool window where you can work.

You can find the tool by searching for “snipping tool” in the Windows search box, although the method is different depending on the version of Windows you are using.

To use: In the Snipping tool,

  • Select Mode (or the arrow next to the New button for older versions of Windows).
  • Then select the type of holding you want. You will most likely take the Rectangular Snip.
  • The screen will turn a little gray and you can draw around the area you want to cut and save.
  • Save it using the method described earlier.

The Snipping Tool allows you to share and copy the screenshots you’ve taken, but Windows 10 has another app called Snip & Sketch, which adds another annotation tool.

You can search for it the same way you would with the Snipping Tool.

Now it’s good
You can also take a screenshot on a Windows tablet or phone, just by simultaneously pressing and holding the Windows and Volume Down buttons (for tablets) or the Start and Power buttons (for phones).

Check your device’s manual for more details, as these instructions may vary depending on the model of your Windows phone or tablet.
