Setting up a new Apple Watch is pretty cool, no matter what model you have. All you need is an iPhone connected to the Internet and Bluetooth turned on. This article is about how to set up and repair your Apple Watch from iPhone.

To set up your Apple Watch, you need to turn it on and pair it with a nearby iPhone.

The iPhone you use to set up your watch must be connected to the Internet and have Bluetooth turned on.

If you don’t have an Apple Watch turned on, press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears, then wait for it to boot. If you take it out of the box, be sure to pack it a little first.

You’ll also want to make sure your iPhone is connected to the Internet and Bluetooth is turned on.

2. Move the Apple Watch closer to your iPhone. You will see a screen on the iPhone that says Use your iPhone to update this Apple Watch. Click Continue and the Watch app will open.

You can choose to set up an Apple Watch for yourself or for a family member – chances are you’ll set it up for yourself, so choose that option.

3. On Apple Watch, tap the icon and choose your language and country. It should start to show a translucent space that looks like something moving.

4. Move your iPhone so that the Apple Watch screen fits inside the yellow square. After a while, the two will merge together.

  1. Now choose whether you want to set up your Apple Watch using a backup (if you already have one) or configure it as a new watch.
  2. If you select Restore backup, select the backup you want to use. All data from the backup will be uploaded to your watch. If you choose Set up as a new Apple Watch, browse the options to choose the wrist you want to wear the watch on, accept the terms and conditions, sign in to your Apple ID account, and configure your settings.

Quick tip: Some options will let you tap Set Later in the Apple Watch app to skip them now.

7. Create a password and select the apps you want to install.

8. Once you have configured all of your settings, give your iPhone time to sync. This can take a long time – up to an hour in some – so keep your watch running.

You can continue to use your iPhone as normal, but do not take it away from the watch. While you wait, stay tuned for some tips and tricks to get the most out of your new gear.
