how to force quit any app on mac easily

There is nothing more annoying for Mac users than seeing the evil spin wheel of death when you are in the middle of an important task. In this case, you have several options when an application on your Mac stops responding, the easiest of which is a full force shutdown. This article is about how to force quit any app on mac OS.

Here’s how to force quit any app on mac

Try the usual quit. Before you make things worse and try to force quit, try to close the Mac application that is not running.

  • Choose Quit from the Tools menu or press Command (⌘)-Q.
  • Right click on the application.
  • Let’s say Spotify is giving you a hard time.
  • Right-click (Ctrl-Click) the app on your toolbar.
  • Press and hold the Option key and you will see the Exit option.
  • Go to the options menu and select Push Stop.
    Try to analyze the event.
  • If the last method did not solve your problem, you can open the monitor.
  • To find Event Viewer, click on the Spotlight icon (it’s the magnifying glass icon at the top right of your screen) and type “Event Viewer”.
  • You will be redirected to the Task Manager window where you have identified the unwanted application and click on the Stop button to exit.

Your Mac will check that you want to end the process before exiting.
It’s time to force an end.

Press “Option, Command, and Escape (Esc)” at the same time or choose Force Quit from the Apple menu. You can find the Apple logo on the top left corner of your screen.

Go to your Applications folder, scroll to Utilities and launch Terminal.

Terminal displays your CPU and RAM usage analysis.

Type the word “Up” and press Return. Find the unsupported application in the command column, copy the PID (located in the left column) by highlighting it and pressing “Cmd+C”.

Open a new window in Terminal, type “Kill”, press the space bar and type “Cmd + C”.

A message like “Kill 93142” should appear.

Press the return key. If you look at the tool in the toolbar at the bottom of your screen, there will be no dots under it, which means you’re done.
Force stop the app.

You will see the Force Quit Apps screen appear with all the apps you use listed in the menu.

Find the unresponsive app (it will say “Not Responding” to the right of the name), click it, and then click Force Quit.

If the Finder itself is not responding, you can also force quit it.
