You can find and add someone on Snapchat by matching your phone contacts, searching for their username, or scanning a Snapcode.

But what if you want to find someone you met online – or even follow a celebrity you think might have a Snapchat account?
Finding people on Snapchat is easy and can be done in three different ways on your iPhone or Android.

How to find someone on Snapchat

On your phone’s home screen, find and tap the Snapchat icon to open the app.

2. In the upper left corner of your screen, tap your profile icon, which may appear as a Bitmoji.

3. Just below your profile information, click on the “Find Friends on Snapchat” button, which will allow you to sync your phone contacts with the Snapchat app.

4. Next, you will be asked to confirm that you want to find your friends by syncing your contacts.

Click the blue Continue button to continue.

5. A popup will appear asking Snapchat to access your contacts.

6. Click “OK” to allow this.

Once your contacts are synced, everyone with a Snapchat account will appear as a list.

To add an account, tap + Add next to its name.

Note that all your contacts who are not on Snapchat can be called by clicking the call button next to their name.

How to search for a user by their Snapchat username

  1. Tap the Snapchat icon on your phone’s home screen to launch the app.

2. In the search bar at the top of the screen, enter the username of the person you are trying to find.

3. Usernames that match or are close to your search will appear directly below.

Once you’ve found the person you’re looking for, click the +Add button next to their name to add that person.

How to check a user’s Snapcode


Every Snapchat user has a unique Snapcode, which is a QR code that can be scanned on the app to find that user and instantly add them.

If you’re with someone or have access to their Snapcode and want to add it, here’s how.

  1. Open Snapchat by clicking the app icon on your phone’s home screen.

2. Once in Snapchat, switch to camera mode (the screen that displays the camera to take a photo or video).

3. Ask the user to open their Snapchat app and see their Snapcode by clicking on their profile icon on the top left of the app. The dotted yellow box on their logo is their Snapcode.

Point your camera at the user’s Snapcode and tap and hold the screen for a few seconds before releasing it. The camera should automatically scan the Snapcode and find their account.

5. Tap Add Friend to add that person to your Snapchat contact list.

It’s worth noting that you don’t necessarily need to be with someone to verify their Snapcode.

Your phone can also scan a screenshot or photo of their Snapcode to find their Snapchat account.
