You can double the space in Word for an entire document or selected paragraph and increase the space between lines of your text.


To double-spacing in the new version of Word, click the Design tab and set your paragraph spacing to 2.0.


In older versions of Word, including Word 2007-2010, you will need to go to the Styles section of the Home tab and in the settings menu click Double Space.

How to double space in Microsoft Word 

Double spacing increases the amount of space between lines of text and can be helpful to a teacher or editor in marking the document or adding comments. The two sections of the Word document will be different depending on which version of Word you have.

Here are the steps for newer versions of Word and for Office 2007-2010.

In the open document, click Create.
Select paragraph spacing.

Now select Double.

With the document open on the Home tab, highlight the paragraphs you want to duplicate. Click the arrow in the lower right corner of the paragraph box.

From the Line Spacing drop-down list, select Double.

Click OK.

To double the space for the entire document, find the Styles section on the Home tab.

Right-click Normal.


Select Modify


In Formatting, double-click Space.
Now select OK.
