  1. Sign in to your Gmail account.
  2. In the search field at the top of the screen, type label: read to display all e-mails that are read or label: unread to display all unread e-mails.
  3. Click the Select All box to the left of the Refresh button. This will select all emails from the current page – up to 50 emails. To bulk delete all emails in this section and not just the previous ones, you can also click Select all conversations that match this search.

Gmail’s desktop view has all unselected emails and “Select all conversations that match this search” icons displayed in bright pink boxes with arrows pointing at them. You can delete bulk emails with just a few clicks using this shortcut.

  1. Then click the Delete icon at the top, which looks like a trash can.

Quick tip: To delete all read emails from a sender, type by: username: read (where “username” is the sender’s email address) into the search field and follow the steps described above.

How to remove promotions from Gmail


A promotional email is an email sent by a company or organization to customers for the general purpose of selling products. These types of emails are automatically placed in your Promotions tab to separate them from your main inbox.

You may receive promotional emails from vendors when you make a purchase on their website or through a blog when you subscribe to their mailing list.

  1. Sign in to your Gmail account. Click the Promotions tab at the top of your email list.
  2. Click the Select All box to the left of the refresh button. This will select all support emails on the current page (50 emails).
  3. To remove all emails in this section, click Select all conversations and promotions. Gmail’s desktop view has a “Select All” button and highlights the “Select all 218 conversations in promotion” icon in bright pink boxes with arrows pointing at them.
  4. Click the “Select All Conversations and Upgrades” button to remove all emails beyond the previous ones.
  5. Then click the Delete icon at the top, this makes the trash.

Quick Tip: If you want to save promotional emails, manually check your Promotions tab instead of deleting them in bulk, or move them to another folder before deleting in bulk.

How to Recover Deleted Emails in Gmail


If you accidentally delete an email that you didn’t mean to delete, don’t worry.

Deleted emails are stored in your Trash folder, where they are stored for up to 30 days before being permanently deleted.

  1. Sign in to your Gmail account. Scroll down to the menu on the left side of the screen and click on Trash. You can click More to reveal it.
  2. Click the box next to the email you want to restore.
  3. Click the Move To icon, which is a folder with a right-pointing arrow, and select the name of the folder you want to send the email to.

How to delete emails in Gmail permanently


If you delete e-mails to free up storage space and don’t want to wait 30 days to delete e-mails from the Trash folder, you can do it faster by deleting the e-mails yourself.

To clear your Gmail trash:

  1. Sign in to your Gmail account. Scroll down to the menu on the left side of the screen and click on Trash. You can click More to reveal it.
  2. Click the box next to the email you want to permanently delete.
  3. Click Permanently Delete.
