This article is about how to DEACTIVATE or delete your Snapchat account. If you decide you don’t need your Snapchat account anymore, it’s easy to delete it. However, you can only do this on the Snapchat website, which means you’ll need to know your login details.

To remove Snapchat, you must log in to your account in a web browser.


When you delete a Snapchat account, it is disabled for 30 days before it is permanently deleted.

If you change your mind within the 30-day grace period, log into your Snapchat account to reset it.

Quick tip: Before deleting your account, make sure you’ve backed up any Snapchat photos or videos you want to keep.

How to DEACTIVATE or delete your Snapchat account

Keep in mind that after completing these steps, your Snapchat account will not be deleted immediately.

It will be deactivated for 30 days, during which time you will have the opportunity to reactivate your account before it is permanently deleted.

How to delete your Snapchat account

  1. To delete Snapchat, go to the account portal and enter your username (or email) and password.

You can also delete your account by going to Snapchat.com and clicking “Support” at the bottom of the page.

2. On the left side of the support page, select “My Account & Security” and “Delete My Account“.


If you are not logged in to your account in a web browser, you can use the code sent to your email address to verify your account.

3. Get the code from your email, enter it on the Snapchat website and click “Submit“.

4. On the “Delete Account” page, re-enter your username and password and click “Continue“.

Your account is deleted.

5. You will receive a confirmation email when it is turned off.

Suspension lasts for 30 days, after which your account will be permanently deleted.


If you decide to reactivate your Snapchat account before 30 days have passed, you can do so by simply logging back in with your username and password.

Reactivating your account may take up to 24 hours.
