Here’s how to clean a microwave

You can cook anything in the microwave, from popcorn to steak (although we don’t recommend the latter).

So why are they so hard to clean? While using a hot paper towel may seem like an easy way to get rid of hundreds of bags of hot grease, it’s not.

There are actually many innovative ways to clean your microwave that will leave it looking as good as new.

Scrub method

  • Start by removing the glass tray and support ring from the turntable.
  • These items can be washed by hand in the sink using a dishwashing liquid or with a tray in the dishwasher.
Alcohol is a great stress reliever. With the ability to get all the dirt and grime out of your household items, it’s no wonder that alcohol works wonders in the microwave.
  • Using a spray bottle, spray your microwave with vinegar or your appliance cleaner of choice.
  • Now, use a small sponge or cloth to clean the inside of the microwave.

Make sure you don’t forget to make the door – this part can be greasy.

Steam cleaning process

  • Using a microwave-safe bowl or glass, mix 2 cups of water with 2 tablespoons of microwaveable wine.
Close the door and set your microwave on high for 5 minutes.
  • Once done, close the door for another 15 minutes – the steam will cut through the grease and make cleaning easier.

Pro tip: The same method works with lemons.

Cut a lemon in half, pour the juice into a bowl of water that is not safe in the microwave, put both of them in water and heat for 10-15 minutes.

A mixture of vinegar and baking soda

  1. Mix 4 tablespoons of soda and one liter of water.
  2. Once it is completely melted, dip the sponge into the mixture and place it carefully in your microwave.
  3. Now, let’s continue with the steam cleaning process that we mentioned, where we combine equal parts of water and wine in a safe dish in the microwave and heat it on high heat for a few minutes until the water boils.

Finally, you carefully remove the bowl of hot wipes from your microwave and vinegar-water combo, making sure you get all of the baking soda mixture.
