How to Change Wireless Router Admin Password – 4 easy steps

This article is about how to Change Wireless Router Admin Password. Many people change the default password to the saved password to set up the router, but over time, they may forget the credentials required to log in because they don’t use it.

If you have forgotten your router’s admin username and password, you will need to reset your router to its default settings and reset your admin password and Wi-Fi password.

How to Change Wireless Router Admin Password

  • Part 1: Find username and default password of the router
  • Part 2: Reset a router in company settings
  • Part 3: Change Password Password

Where you will find the password of the router

If you want to reset your router on the company settings, you need to require username and the default password to process and change your Wi-Fi password.

There are many ways to find the following information:

1. Read the instructions of the router

Different types of browsers often use different combinations of usernames and passwords.

To find the router’s default username and password, check its manual.

If you’ve lost your manual, you can usually find it by Googling the router’s model number and “manual”.

Or just find the router model and default password on the manufacturer’s website.

2. Look for the logo of the router itself

Look for a sticker on the side or bottom of the router.

For some routers, their username and password are sometimes printed on the label of the router itself.

3. Check out RouterPasswords.com

Router Password makes it easy to find your backup router password.

If you don’t have a manual and the normal defaults don’t work, you can find usernames and passwords for different routers at RouterPasswords.com.

If you can not find the exact type of router you are looking for, try the password from another model from the same manufacturer, or try a common username and password.

By default, most browsers use the default username and password, admin username and password blank, or use admin as the username and password.

How to reset wireless router to factory settings

If you forgot your router’s administrative password, forgot your wireless network security key, or are troubleshooting connection problems, you can reset your network router.

After that, your wireless network name (SSID) and secret key will be reset. This section provides different router configuration methods.

Option 1: Hard reset by pressing reset button
Option 2: Restore factory settings from the router’s admin page

Option 1: Do a hard reset

A hard reset is the most dangerous type of router reset and is usually used when an administrator forgets the password or key and wants to restart with new settings.

Since the router software is reset to factory settings, a hard reset removes all settings including passwords, usernames, security keys, port forwarding settings, and custom DNS servers.

Be sure to check your router’s user manual before performing any type of reset procedure.

Do a hard reset

Router manufacturer instructions vary, but in general, you need to do the following:

Make sure your router is turned on.
Find the Reset button.

Use a pin to press the reset button for about 10 seconds until the light starts flashing.
Release the reset button and wait for the router to reset to its factory default settings.

For serious cases, try the 30-30-30 hard reset method:
On most routers, holding the down button for 10 seconds will reset your router.

If that doesn’t work, try using the 30-30-30 method:

  • Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
  • Unplug the router for 30 seconds.
  • Connect the router to power.
  • Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.

Option 2: Restore factory settings from the admin page

If your router doesn’t have a reset button, you’ll have to reset it using an option in its configuration settings.

We recommend that you read the router’s manual.

You can search the model name of the router on the Internet and find the model online in the “User Manual”.

This guide will help you log into the router’s website and view the configuration options.
