How to add audio to a Google Slide show from Google Drive or Spotify

Slideshows can be fun and interesting or the most boring part of the workday. One way to avoid this last experience is to add audio or music to your Google Slides presentation. This article will tell you how to add audio to a Google Slide show from Google Drive or Spotify.

To add audio to Google Slides, upload an MP3 or WAV file directly from Google Drive.

You can also add a link to listen to music from Spotify, although this process is more complicated. If you want to add videos to Google Slides, you can also add YouTube videos.

You can add audio to Google Slides directly from your Google Drive, or you can add a link to a Spotify song – here’s how to do both.

How to add audio to A Google Slide

  1. Upload audio files in MP3 or WAV format to your Google Drive.
  2. Open your Google Slides presentation and navigate to the slide you want to add audio to. Click “Add” on the toolbar at the top of the slide screen.
  3. From the “Insert” drop-down menu, select “Audio“.
  4. In the “Insert Audio File” pop-up window, you can see your audio files in “My Drive“, “Shared Drive”, “My Shared” or “Recent“. You can also enter the name of your audio file in the search bar.
  5. Click on the file you want to add, then click “Select.”
  6. Your audio file will now appear on your slide as a small sound icon. To change the icon, click on it and drag one side of it outwards or inwards.

When you click an icon or hover your mouse over it, the playback bar shows where you can pause, play or fast forward the audio. When you click the icon, a side menu appears on the right side of the slide.

Here, you can customize many sounds and design elements such as audio playback, reflections, shadows, colors, etc.

How to add music to Google Slides and Spotify

  1. Open Spotify Web Player or the desktop app and find the right song.
  2. Click the ellipsis icon next to the song, album, or playlist you want, then in the pop-up window, go to “Share” and click “Copy link to song“.
  3. Open your Google Slides presentation and navigate to the first slide under which you want the music to play.
  4. Select some text (or image) on the slide, click “Insert link” and paste your Spotify link.
  5. On the day of your presentation, be sure to enter the browser version of Spotify.

When you show, you will need to click on the link, which will open Spotify in a new browser window. You’ll still need to click Play in the Spotify window before returning to your Google Slides presentation.
